TUAP attends - Train the Trainers’ Workshop:
TUAP and Mustadafin home base caregivers in Tafelsig attended a Parenting workshop initiated by the city of Cape Town entitled: “Train the Trainers workshop. The three day workshop was aimed at training parents and active community members to adequately parent youth in the modern society.
Morishia Fortuin, Candice Hendricks, Samantha Fortuin, Maryam Jacobs and Tamlin Petersen successfully completed the workshop and received their certification on Friday, March 07th in a ceremony held at the Lentegeur Hospital. These caregivers are faced with
Mustadafin’s homebase caregivers in Tafelsig are faced with drug abuse, gangsterism, and the realities of HIV/Aids and TB on a daily basis. According to Morishia the workshop was greatly needed to curb abuse in the community of Mitchells Plain as it equipped parents with the necessary skills to promote change in the community.
As the only established NGO in the area, TUAP, supported by Mustadafin, sees to 1500 infected families with cooked meals twice a day, and provide awareness at the various schools, churches, provide home base care for the terminally ill, gardening, telephonic counseling and support groups which meets regularly and also became the campaigners for awareness in the community.
